Odd
Filed Under Uncategorized by Jenny Zink Reames

I found this to be so odd. A back seat full of old violins and bags of onions. I tried to hurry and sneak a few pictures before I got caught, but given time I could have taken some cool ones.

Dreaming
Filed Under 365 Project by Jenny Zink Reames

I should probably make it my goal to post anything NON-weather/season related for the next couple months.
Several people have sent me photography questions through my website. I have decided to start offering basic photography and lighting (and camera) workshops here in Grinnell. Once I find a good location I will let you know.

Fall Harvest
Filed Under 365 Project, Food by Jenny Zink Reames

I couldn’t resist buying this multicolored corn at the supermarket last week. It is so beautiful. Hard to believe Fall is right around the corner.

Best Burger

Best burger in Grinnell….you really must go to Lonnski’s (922 1/2 Main Street, Grinnell, Iowa). Not only do they have amazing burgers but sweet potato fries and cheese bites!

I had to do some testing tonight due to major camera card failure yesterday. I took several hundred images with (and without) the Argus yesterday at the old pool and park. the light was perfect there were so many interesting things around there and then i got home to upload them and NOTHING! All gray boxes. I have no idea what happened. I could look through the images before I got home but somewhere between the camera and card reader things went horribly wrong. I was on the verge of tears all morning. I won’t even mention the two people I told the story to didn’t even reply to my email with “man, that sucks.” or anything. I’m not calling them out on their lack of sensitivity, ok fine, I am! It sucked! With that I give you an image from today. It still works but does worry a little about when I have a real job. I can’t afford to lose pictures when someone is paying me! Might be time for a new card, or battery, or reader, or uploading two different ways before deleting. I don’t know.

Making an effort
Filed Under 365 Project by Jenny Zink Reames

I was getting ready to go for a run on the treadmill and thought I would share my kick ass socks with you all. I am going to make an effort to start posting daily again. As you have seen in the past, not all pictures will be good, but at least there is something here for Dan to comment on daily. I know how much he misses it.

The weather here in Iowa has become suddenly Fall like. It’s wonderful to throw on a sweatshirt and get outside, but honestly, I am not looking forward to Winter. I am a natural light photographer. I hate strobes and prefer continuous lighting because I like to shoot what I see. I don’t enjoy metering and measuring light. I trust my eyes. The only problem with that is that Winter light SUCKS! It’s harsh and only lasts for a few hours a day. My shooting drops off dramatically in the Winter. I need to work a way around it because I have a good momentum going right now and I don’t want the seasons to change that. I am sure my neighbors won’t think it strange that I put up a big white tent in my backyard in the middle of winter, do you? Except, it would be cold in the tent and I hate being cold. This might take some brainstorming.

My birthday was August 19th and I am lucky enough to have so many wonderful people in my life who know what I love. One of my good friends brought me a cupcake from our new local bakery Yumi’s Bakery & Deli (829 Broad St., Grinnell, Iowa). This was such a wonderful treat. I am finally getting around to posting it. Here is a late thank you to all of my friends and family who made my birthday so special.
